Contemporary Artist.
My work is found and formed at the intersection of what I see and how I feel.
Bold colour and texture mirrors the high contrast natural world around me, and simultaneously expresses the intuitive world within me. Throughout my work, the metallic tones act as a light source to elevate the natural world into the ethereal. Visually and viscerally I explore the expression of two worlds at once, marrying contrast with sensitivity to create harmony within the frame.
My choice to use metal leaf began as an homage to my love of renaissance history. As I worked with it more and more, it became an important tool to connect with and capture the ethereal nature of light. Gold is associated with spiritual realm in artistic and religious traditions dating back throughout history, and it continues to inspire me to connect deeper to my nature. Gilding and the study of nature has become a meditative process for me to bring my inner world into outer form. The reflective surface of the metal leaf acts as a window into my personal dreamscapes but it also brings the viewer into my world as they gaze upon their own image mirrored back to them through the landscape.
